Self-Tapping Phillips Wood Screws

This product is a metric self-tapping wood screw manufactured to DIN 7982 (countersunk flat head) or DIN 7981 (pan head), featuring a Phillips cross recess drive and a Type C (or Type F) tapping thread with a sharp cone point. The self-tapping thread creates its own mating thread when driven into pre-drilled or pilot holes in wood, chipboard, MDF, plywood, and other timber-based materials, eliminating the need for pre-tapped inserts. Available in carbon steel (property classes 4.8, 5.8, or 8.8) and stainless steel (A2-304, A4-316) with surface finishes including zinc plating, yellow zinc, black oxide, or passivated stainless. Thread sizes from ST2.2 to ST6.3 (metric self-tapping) or equivalent imperial gauges, lengths from 4 mm to 250 mm. Widely used in furniture assembly, joinery, decking, cabinetry, and general woodworking construction where a flush or low-profile finish is required.

Thread sizes range from ST2.2 to ST6.3 with metric coarse pitches: ST2.2 (p=0.8 mm), ST2.9 (p=1.1 mm), ST3.5 (p=1.3 mm), ST3.9 (p=1.3 mm), ST4.2 (p=1.4 mm), ST4.8 (p=1.6 mm), ST5.5 (p=1.8 mm), ST6.3 (p=1.8 mm). Countersunk head diameter (dk) maximum ranges from 4.3 mm (ST2.2) to 12.4 mm (ST6.3); head height (k) from 1.3 mm to 3.8 mm. Cross recess size: PH1 for ST2.2–ST2.9, PH2 for ST3.5–ST4.8, PH3 for ST5.5–ST6.3. Available lengths per DIN 7982: 6.5 mm to 50 mm for ST2.2–ST4.8, 16 mm to 75 mm for ST5.5, 19 mm to 75 mm for ST6.3. Thread sizes: ST2.2 to ST8.0 with same coarse pitches as DIN 7982. Pan head diameter and height dimensions per DIN 7981 tables: for No.4 (2.9 mm), head diameter 5.6 mm, head height 2.2 mm. Cross recess size: PH1 for ST2.2–ST2.9, PH2 for ST3.5–ST4.8, PH3 for ST5.5–ST8.0. Length range: 4 mm to 100 mm for ST2.2–ST6.3, 6 mm to 120 mm for ST8.0. Suitable for wood, plastic, brass, and aluminium with pilot hole size varying by material thickness.

Carbon steel versions: property class 4.8 (minimum tensile 400 MPa, yield 320 MPa) for general light-duty applications; property class 5.8 (500 MPa tensile, 400 MPa yield) for medium-duty; property class 8.8 (800 MPa tensile, 640 MPa yield) for high-strength structural wood connections. Stainless steel: A2-70 (304 series, 700 MPa tensile) for indoor and mildly corrosive environments; A4-80 (316 series, 800 MPa tensile) for marine, coastal, and chemically exposed applications. Surface finishes: electro-zinc plating (5–12 μm, clear or yellow passivation) for basic corrosion resistance; black oxide for aesthetic finish with mild protection; hot-dip galvanizing for enhanced outdoor durability; mechanical zinc plating for consistent coating thickness.
